Amanda Ryan-Fear Selected as Liberty Assistant Principal

August 4, 2014
– Principal Timmons announced today that Amanda Ryan-Fear has been selected as the new assistant principal of Liberty High School.

Dr. Ryan-Fear was already slated to become dean of students at Liberty, however when Andy DeBois announced his selection as the new principal of Scappoose High School, she applied and was ultimately selected for the position.

Dr. Ryan-Fear has been working at Hilhi since 2014 in roles ranging from art teacher to leadership teacher to activities director to dean of students.  She earned her administrative license in 2009 and since then has filled in as a substitute principal and/or assistant principal at elementary, middle and high schools.  Dr. Ryan-Fear has worked in the field of education since 1998, at which time she was serving youth aged 5-17 with cognitive and physical disabilities in a therapeutic recreation program.  That experience inspired her to return to school for a Master’s degree in teaching in 2003.  Ten years later, she earned her Doctorate in Educational Methodology, Policy and Leadership.  She counts as her most gratifying experiences serving as an advisor to Hilhi’s Latino Youth Advisory Council (LYAC), co-leading their staff equity team, and building relationships with students and families.

Liberty High School students will actively
take part in their education,
demonstrate respect and pride
in themselves and their community,
and possess the skills necessary
for success.
