Becky Smith Selected as Principal of South Meadows
Superintendent Mike Scott announced on Monday, April 8, that Becky Smith has been selected as the next Principal of South Meadows Middle School.
Ms. Smith is currently the Assistant Principal at South Meadows, and has been since the school opened in 2009. Before that, she was Assistant Principal at Thomas Middle School, and previously taught Math at both the middle and high school level. She has also coached Cross Country, been a Math Coordinator and a Curriculum Leader in the Hillsboro School District.
Ms. Smith has provided cohesiveness and stability as South Meadows has operated under three different Principals over the past three years. She has a strong focus on curriculum and student achievement, and is committed to advancing the great work already under way at the school.
She will remain in her current role through the end of this school year then will officially transition into the Principal position on July 1, 2013. A new Assistant Principal will be sought over the course of the next few weeks.
We are very grateful to Mr. Carlos Perez for the leadership he has provided as Interim Principal over the past several months and will continue to provide through the end of the school year, and are excited for Ms. Smith to lead us into 2013-14 and beyond!
