Safety Incident at Brown Middle School

Good morning Brown Middle School Students,

We wanted to let you know that this morning at approximately 7:45am, one of your classmates was crossing Frances Street to get to school on their bicycle when a driver heading eastbound toward Cornelius Pass struck them with their car.

Fortunately, the student was wearing a helmet and was conscious at the scene with what appear to be minor injuries. Police and emergency service personnel arrived immediately and began controlling the scene and caring for the student, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance to be evaluated.

This is the second accident where a student was hit by a car in our area in the past week. Both times, the drivers claimed the sun was in their eyes and they didn’t see the student. If you walk or ride your bike to school, please use extra caution as you cross the street and make sure you make eye contact with drivers heading both directions before you cross. Your safety is our number one concern.

If you have questions or would like to talk about this incident, please feel free to visit Mr. Craytor or Ms. Brehm in the counseling office.

Thank you,

Principal Will

Welcome To Brown Attend-Dance - October 7th

Our first social of the year is called the Welcome To Brown Attend-Dance.  We welcome all students who have had 90% attendance since September 12th.  If your student has had 95% attendance, they get in for free!

Parents are asked to make telephone contact when a student is absent or needs to be excused for an appointment, etc.

After school hours, an answering machine is available to take your messages. If possible, please call the day or night before the student is absent, and include the reason for the absence. If this is not possible, please call the morning of the absence so teachers can be notified.
