Students who are planning on attending a 4-year college after graduation need to register to take either the SAT I (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or the ACT (American College Test) in order to meet college entrance requirements. Some schools also require the SAT II (Subject tests); students must check the individual college admission requirements through the college websites or catalogs, their counselor can assist with this if needed.

SAT and ACT registration materials and preparation booklets/practice tests are available in the counseling center. Students must register on-line at http://sat.collegeboard.org/home for the SAT or www.actstudent.org for the ACT. Century’s identification number for both of these is 380-482.

SAT I and SAT II tests are both given on the SAT Test dates, but can NOT both be taken on the same day. Students needing both types of scores will have to register for two separate testing dates. Four-year college bound juniors are strongly encouraged to have taken either the SAT or ACT by the end of 11 th grade so they are ready to start their college applications in September of their senior year.

The SAT and ACT are offered at Century on specific test dates and at other district schools on other dates. Students on Free or Reduced lunch should talk to their counselor prior to registering for any tests as there may be a fee waiver for the exam. It may also be possible to obtain a waiver for specified colleges’ application fees.
