Dear Families of Free Orchards Fifth and Sixth Graders,

I wanted to provide some clarification around an incident that took place at school yesterday involving a student who brought a pocket knife to school and was passing it back and forth to another student.

A fellow student alerted us to this at approximately 12:30 p.m., we did an immediate investigation and took appropriate action per the guidelines in the Standards of Student Conduct. It does not appear that the student(s) involved planned any violence with the knife, it simply seemed as though the student wanted to show it off to their friend.

Please remind your students that they may not bring weapons of any kind—even toy weapons—to school with them, and if they see or hear about a weapon at school, they should report it to their teacher or the school office immediately.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our main office.

Thank you,

Becky Brauer
