The Hillsboro School Board is seeking recommendations from the community to name the final elementary school to be built under the 2006 Construction bond.  Nominations are due no later than August 1, 2008.

Currently referred to as Elementary School #27, the school will serve up to 600 students when it opens in the fall of 2009.  Mahlum Architects presented the site plans and design for Elementary School #27 to the School Board on May 27.

The plan includes designing the school in a manner which will qualify for a Green Building Certification called LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Criteria include elements such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy system performance, use of recycled or renewable materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovative design.

The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, which will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008.”

Please note that names of individuals are not eligible for consideration.  Proposed school n ames may have geographical, historical, political, constitutional or patriotic significance. All recommendations should include a rationale.
