Principal's Message

Dear Jackson Families,

What a great start to October!  We had our first monthly PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) assemblies where we recognized all our Jackson Jaguars for being safe, respectful, and responsible!!  We announced Jag Tag Winners and the coveted Golden Awards (ask your children about those!).  We also had 2 authors visit Jackson and talk to students about their work and their writing process.  6th graders had a great time at Outdoor School and really showed their independence and growth mindset in a new environment away from family.  Classroom teachers helped students build community in classrooms and really got the academic learning rocking!  Our AmeriCorps member began working with students and is starting Destination Imagination teams.  We have created the 16-17 School Improvement Plan with great input from stakeholders and data -  SIP summary, & SIP Visual.  Thank you to those parents who were able to be at the coffee chat - we will continue these on the first Friday of each month at 8 AM.  October 20th was the Great Oregon Shake Out; we did an earthquake drill and sent home our preparedness plan.  Conferences are November 8th (4:00 - 8:00) & 9th (8:00 - 8:00), please talk to your childs' teacher(s) if you haven't yet signed up.  5/6 Academy teachers will be doing drop in conferences in the gym and library.
