We are open 8 - 3 Monday - Friday.  Please register your child as soon as possible so we are adequately prepared to begin school Sept. 6!

School days are 7:45 - 2:05 M, Tu, Th, F.

Wed. is early release for teacher collaboration.  School ends at 1:35 on Wednesdays.

Dear North Plains Families,

School begins in just 14 short days!  The office is open and people are beginning to come in and register.  As of now we still only have 301 students, so there is no change in classes at this time.  I'm still hopeful we may be able to eliminate some splits if we get the enrollment necessary to do so. If you know a family that needs to register their child(ren), please encourage them to do so as soon as possible!


In years past we have had a meet the teacher/drop off school supply night the week before school.  This year our building was under some major construction including putting in an HVAC (heating and cooling) system, replacing all the plumbing in the building, and installing wireless hubs in all of the classrooms.  All great things, but it has put us back in getting the classrooms ready!  For that reason we decided not to do the before school event.  The first day will be a bit crazy with bringing in supplies, but we'll make it work!  Supplies that are shared can be dropped off in the lobby, parent volunteers will help out with that, while individual supplies will of course go to the classroom with the student.  Please take a look at the teacher created supply list that is on this website.


Remember the informal "picnic with the principal" on Aug. 25th at 6:00 PM.  This is an opportunity for us to meet and hopefully get to know each other a bit before the school year begins.  Please bring a picnic dinner for you and your family who attend and I will supply soda and water.  If you are unable to attend, please do not be concerned as  there will be multiple additional opportunities to visit.  We will meet behind the school in the covered area where the picnic areas are. 


Back to School Night, or curriculum night as some of you may know it, will be on Sept. 15th at 6:00 PM.  This will be the opportunity to meet your child's teacher and hear what the plans are for the year.  As for school supplies, your child may bring them on the first day, or you may drop them off any time during the first week of school.  


I'm definitely looking forward to meeting each of you and to get to know your children.  North Plains is an exceptional school with a dedicated staff and actively involved parent community and I'm anxious to truly become a part of the team.  If you need to contact me at any time, please do send me an email at, or call the office at 503-844-3350. 


I'm committed to excellent communication and am looking at several ways to do that effectively.  One method is a text or email from Remind when an important event or message needs to go out.  You can click this link to sign up Remind sign up  .   I will also set up a link on our district app (look for HSD in the app store) that will push out notifications if you select to follow North Plains Elementary.  This is not done yet, but I'll get it done soon.
