Winter Break

Dec. 17 - Jan. 2

Announcement

December 21, 2016

Dear North Plains Families,

It's been a busy month at North Plains Elementary School, and unfortunately we lost 4 days to snow and ice!  Thankfully our amazing parent volunteers worked to get all of the students through the Holiday Gift Shop before school was cancelled.  It was a very busy, but fun filled Wednesday!  Thankfully we had an early release for our students and didn't face some of the troubles of the secondary school buses that afternoon, however some of our staff were stuck in the mess and Ms. Clayton didn't make it home until 10:30 PM!  Hopefully all of you got home safely and enjoyed the additional two days of winter break.

Our fourth grade students were able to release the 500 Chinook salmon they had hatched from eggs into the Tualatin River on Tuesday, and superintendent Mike Scott met them at Rood Bridge Park to join in the fun.  On the same day,  primary students enjoyed an assembly about the importance of taking care of their teeth from the Tartar Patrol.  Unfortunately the presentation from Katie and Zach Frazier about fundraising for Village of Hope was to take place on Friday and will have to be rescheduled, but I will be sharing with students a little about my experiences at VOH during the first week of January so we can begin our Koins for Kids drive.  Katie and Zach will reschedule to share at a later date.

PTO meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM, so will meet on the evening of Jan. 3.  If you haven't come to a meeting in the past, please feel free to join us and see what the PTO is up to.  We have an extremely dedicated and supportive group of people and would love for you to get involved!

Movie night is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 PM.  The movie is yet to be determined, but regardless of the selection, it will be a great time.

If you are interested in being a part of our North Plains Elementary Family, please fill out a volunteer application online on the district website.  We would love to have you help out in the cafeteria, in classrooms, on the playground, or just helping teachers with bulletin boards and laminating!

Questions, concerns, comments?  Send me an email, I appreciate hearing from you!
