Keep an eye out for news about….

·         After school clubs, coming after parent teacher conferences.  This year with the help of AmeriCorps member, Megan Chase, we will be expanding to 3 days a week of homework club as well as interest clubs.  Volunteers needed!

·         Arts Immersion!  As part of the Right Brain Initiative, Quatama will again have a guest artist working with teachers and students.  Classroom teachers will be integrating the arts to enhance learning in other subject areas like math, reading, social studies, and science.

·         Green Team.  Last year we were named an Energy Star for our level of energy use in the building.  We also have extensive recycling in the cafeteria, a garden next door, and are looking for new ways to make a difference to our planet!

·         Math.  At Quatama we are really excited about the new district math adoption!  You should be receiving math activities for home that will help you see what is happening in math!

Quatama Elementary has recently been named a “Community School” by the Washington County Commission on Children and Families.  This honor is in recognition of our work with and support from the community.  Not only do we have a strong active parent group, The Coyote Community Club or CCC, but we also have connections with area businesses and government entities.  From our garden in the community garden, to our newest sponsorship by Whole Foods, to Synopsys math volunteers, to our Green School status, Quatama students have the opportunity to learn how they can make a difference in the world.  They also see the value that the community puts on quality education and have opportunities to show appreciation for that.  Quatama thanks our local neighborhood for its support!
