Flash Emergency Notification
The District uses an internet-based service for weather-related
school closure information and to relay important information to parents,
staff, and the public in the event of an emergency.
Parents and the public can sign up for Flash Alert to receive
emergency alert messages through email and/or cell phone texts.
You can access the link from the District website under District:
School Closures Emergency Notification.
The District website will be used to communicate information
regarding urgent and emergency situations,
including inclement weather and school closings.
Check the District website at www.hsd.k12.or.us for announcements
and updates in the cases of inclement weather.
Local Radio and TV stations will receive information
and updates from the Flash Alert system regarding school district
emergencies, delays and closures. Weather zone information:
In the event of alternate (snow routes) for District transportation,
information on the specific routes affected will be communicated
by specifying the “zones” - designated areas/neighborhoods affected.
The District weather zone map can be accessed through the
District website: school closures/emergency notification page.

When to keep your Children home sick.
In the school environment many communicable diseases are
easily transmitted from one student to another.
A healthy environment involves prevention, early recognition of illness,
symptoms, prompt diagnosis and treatment. Children who are not
feeling well have a difficult time concentrating and therefore do not benefit
from the instruction they receive during that time.
Please do not send an ill child to school.
We need your assistance in providing a safe
and healthy environment for your child.
Below are some guidelines to help you make the decision
whether or not to send your child to school.
The recommendations are based on the guidelines
provided by the Communicable Disease Division
of the Washington County Department of Health and Human
Services and The Oregon Department of Education.
Keep your child home if she/he has any of the following symptoms:
Fever: Greater that 100.5 F. May return when temperature is
normal for a minimum of 24 hours without using fever reducing medicine.
Vomit: more than twice in the preceding 24 hours, unless determined
to be from a non-communicable condition. May return when resolved.
Diarrhea: 3 or more watery or loose stool in 24 hours. May return when
resolved for 24 hours. Stiff neck or headache: with accompanying fever.
May return after resolution of symptoms or diagnosis made and clearance
given by medical provider.
Stiff neck or headache: with accompanying fever. May return after
resolution of symptoms or diagnosis made and clearance given by medical provider.

Eye discharge: Any thick mucus or pus draining from eyes.

physician and clearance given.
Ictericia (Jaundice): Piel u ojos se ponen amarillentos. Podrá regresar

ya pueden regresar a la escuela.
Rash: Any new onset of rash. May return after rash resolves or diagnosis
is made and clearance given by medical provider.
Other: Symptoms or complaints that prevent the student from active
participation in usual school activities. If your child is diagnosed with
a communicable disease, please notify the school as soon as possible.
Some students have medical conditions and/or compromised immune
systems that can become life threatening when exposed to certain illnesses.
